Time for some spring cleaning! Or perhaps some spring buying? Take a look at the spring fashion items that I am dying to buy, even though my closet space is already maxed out.
1. Romantic Floral Grandma Dresses
Mid-length, a good sleeve, extra flowing fabric, these are the key details that I need in a spring dress. Think of it as something that you would wear to a Sunday garden party where you plan on drinking one too many grapefruit mimosas while still looking pretty. The dress is fun, pretty and ethereal, but also not too prim and proper. I'd where this dress with some converse to dress it down or a heeled mule for a dressed-up occasion.
2. Pant Chain
This is one of those items that serve no purpose, but just kinda looks cool. The pant chain has become a signature for new instagirl brand I.AM.GIA shown on their Cobain Pants, but I am looking for the DIY version that I can clip on and off a variety of pants. My next shopping destination: Joann's.
3. Shirring/smocking
We are seeing a resurgence of things you probably wore as a young girl (scrunchies, claw clips, headbands) and this one is included. If you look back in your photo archives, you can probably see yourself in summer outfits with a little smocked top, perhaps with some tie straps in a red cherry print that you wore for the 4th of July with a matching bucket hat (but maybe thats just me). Shirring is now getting a grown up yet equally as fun update. I first became obsessed with this trend Instagram stalking Olivia Rose the Label. From dresses to tops, she knows how to construct this childhood staple into a fashion forward piece. My new favorite brand Ganni also has some killer smocked items in standout prints.
4. Trench Coat
Stylistically, trench coats are very underrated for the number of ways that one can be worn. I am looking for one in a more unique fabric choice, perhaps a shiny patent or denim. Might be impractical for the rain, I would still look kewl and be ready to solve some mysteries.
5. A graphic tee under a plunging neckline
Ok, so this one is not an item, just more of a styling trick. I like a good plunging neckline, but it can get inappropriate wearing it during the day. Give those party pieces a new life by layering a t-shirt underneath for some extra coverage and a little peeking pattern.
