Minimalist Dressing

Fashion is confusing. Right now, minimalism is a big trend. Girls try their best to look effortless and casual even when a look actually takes a lot of work to put together. On the other end of the spectrum, maximalism is also in. Dresses over pants, bras over tops, socks with heels, all trends that take that extra effort to put together and pull off. But as a fashion girl, which route should you take? Does more always bring more? Or is classicism the way to go?

In this look, I chose the minimalist route: jeans and a cami. I wanted a look that was fashionably effortless. Despite my previous resistance to jeans, I've been more open to them as I've found that vintage high-waisted styles suit me the best (Check out another post on vintage Levi's here). I have bigger thighs and a booty with a smaller waist, so these styles fit so much better than modern low-rise jeans. The silhouette of my vintage cami gives it more shape than any other boxy tank and creates a ladylike vibe. For accessories, I like pairing classic pearls with a casual outfit so it doesn't seem too "old-lady". This necklace is from Postcard From Paris in Greenville, South Carolina and it is reworked from a vintage Hermès button. To finish off this simple look, I just added a trendy wicker bag and a classic red lip.

Despite the simplicity of this look, it actually took a lot of effort and thought to put together. I didn't want it to be so basic that it was boring, but not too put together that it looked like I actually ~tried~. So take a look at my effortless fashion girl look, ponytail flyaways and all.
