The second stop on our 50 state coffee tour took us to Drip in Columbia, SC. The Five Points location was a cozy spot, packed with students studying that it was hard to even find a place to sit. Some of our favorite coffee shops are those that also have a breakfast/lunch menu ( the avocado toast and granola type) and this seemed to be our ideal place. We usually prefer strong, black coffee and hardly choose the sweeter alternatives, but since Drip was known for a couple signature naturally sweetened honey lattes, we decided to give one a try. All together we ordered a honey habanero latte, a soy cappuccino, a smoked salmon bagel, and a granola with greek yogurt. We might've just been hungry from the drive over but according to Kaity it was the best salmon bagel she has ever tried. The latte was so surprisingly good that it is probably the only sweetened latte that I'll ever consider ordering. Overall, Drip is a great location for a college student to kill time or for an early brunch with your friends before hitting Five Points for some shopping. They nailed the grungy yet cozy coffee shop atmosphere and deliver quality food and drinks with it.
A few months later at the coffee shop in our college's town they had a drink idea contest. We definitely had a couple of ideas we were willing to contribute and the honey habanero latte was one of them! Three days later we walked in for our usual study session and right on the menu read "Winner of the drink contest: Kasey Widmyer. Featuring the Honey Habanero Latte". Now obviously we can't take all of the credit because it definitely wasn't our original idea. So congratulations to Drip for winning the drink contest at Little River Coffee Bar in Spartanburg, South Carolina and thank you for your incredible hospitality!
