The Oscars: the biggest event of the awards season. However, especially over the last couple of years the fashion hype has been underwhelming. The academy awards is an event dedicated to celebrating the talented individuals in the film industry, but it is also one of the few times we can see spectacular runway dresses transformed into some sort of "reality". While in the recent years fashion's presence and importance at awards shows has been criticized for undermining the talent of actors (women in particular) I think it's time we find a balance between celebrating their craft but also bringing these works of art to life. And there is no better time than now. So, if anyone would dare to pull off a truly fashionable look this season, here are some couture gowns from spring 2017 that we'd love to see on the red carpet and the stunningly talented ladies we want to see rock them.
Armani Privé
While I love to see Emma Stone in color, I can't get enough of her in black. This gown exudes sex appeal with fashion drama.
Ellie Saab
With her angelic look, I think Michelle Williams would look stunning in this. And given the film she's nominated for, Manchester by the Sea, it seems pretty fitting, you know.
Zuhair Murad
For a statement, Naomi Harris has the bod and the presence to rock a stunning color like this.
Chanel
Marion Cotillard: French classic beauty. Need I say more?
Valentino
Nicole Kidman: statuesque and elegant. She'd just float across the red carpet in this.
Dior
Viola Davis: No stranger to rocking a simple silhouette in a statement color, she most certainly would shine in this bold metallic.
