It's been a while since we have informed you about our coffee adventures, but that doesn't mean we have stopped being our usual coffee snobs. We have made some progress on our coffee tour list, but have been too lazy to inform you about our well-educated opinions about each place that we visit (sorry not sorry). A while ago, we visited the top ranked coffee shop in Alabama. A quirky name and an interior to match, The Red Cat in Birmingham is a charming mix of artsy grunge and southern influence. As a newfound grits lover, this is the place for a quick southern breakfast and a quality cup of joe. We ordered the gouda grits and a couple of cappuccinos. The coffee wasn't anything new or fancy, no cold brew pour over slow bar stuff, but the cappuccinos met our high expectations for how hard it is to steam soy milk. They had a good range of flavors for people who like a little something sweet in their lattes. They even have a list of signature lattes in quirky flavors. Overall, this shop is a solid choice for a Southern coffee drinker who doesn't need those hipster drinks and is craving something cheesy. We always like coffee shops that have good food too.
