Our Favorite Store in Paris

Updated: Jun 4, 2019

When responding to the question, "Where did you get that?", about your clothes, there is a certain connotation implied when you respond, "Oh, I got this in Paris.." Most assum

e it was from some uber chic little boutique where you pay more than you were willing to spend on a dress, but for us, it is actually quite the opposite. There are really only a total of two places that we bought (many) things from: 1) ventes privées and 2) our favorite tiny vintage store Vintage Désir. (More info about ventes privees will be in a later post)

This store may not be everyone's ideal shopping experience. It is the kind of store that is meant to be a treasure hunt. It's crowded, with shoppers and jam-packed racks, a little sweaty during the warmer months, not neat at all, it has the smallest single dressing room I've ever seen with not exactly the friendliest help, yet we found ourselves going back to shop like it was an addiction. The draw to this store is that it has all the perfect vintage basics I've loved all in one concentrated place. In the heart of the Marais, the store reflects the cool, young and fashionable people who frequent the area. It is in a former hair salon, so outside the building is largely marked "Coiffeur", which made me think that it was the name of the store for the longest time. Clothing wise, it has one of the most carefully selected collection that a vintage store could have. It is focused on the "Americana" style vintage clothing of printed dresses, denim, leather, and fur. Not exactly a place to score a designer vintage find, but it is the perfect place to go if you need a quirky dress for around 15 euros or some other wardrobe staples like menswear trousers or a leather jacket (all for reasonable prices).

Here Kaity is wearing a yellow button-up vintage dress we scored at Vintage Désir. It has the faintest white print featuring a variety of animals that it is much more unique than just a simple solid colored dress. Here she just pairs it with a simple white tank for a hot summer day, but it could also be worn open with some denim cutoffs or just alone with a belt and chunky heels.
